Shane breaks down what's been hot in the NFL, and what is not, as we approach Week 9 of the 2023 NFL Regular Season.

Denver Broncos

They have a 2-game win streak after getting a huge divisional win against the Chiefs in round 2 of their divisional matchups this season. This defense is legit, as long as Justin Simmons and Pat Surtain II are healthy. Those two can really shut down entire offenses if the rest of the defense can shut down the run.

Cincinnati Bengals

They are on a 3-game win streak and riding high after a big, road win vs the always tough San Francisco 49ers. The Burrow-to-Chase connection is re-established while Joe Mixon has almost reached over 500+ all-purpose yards. The Bengals defense is still one of the best in the NFL and they made a statement by shutting down one of the best offenses in the game.

Dallas Cowboys

What a statement win at home vs the LA Rams. Dak looked incredible! 4 TDs! Micah was everywhere too, and even knocked Matthew Stafford out of the game. Let’s see if they can carry this mojo into their road matchup vs the Eagles next week.

New York Giants

Tyrod Taylor was knocked out of the game with 3rd string Tommy DeVito taking the reins and posting a 2/7 completion rate with -1 yards passing. He rushed for a touchdown somehow, and Saquon kept the offense moving on the ground, but it all came up short as Zach Wilson led a late march down the field for a game-winning field goal. Both defenses were playing lights out and these offenses were no match in this battle of New York.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The defense couldn’t keep up with the Jaguars as Travis Etienne ran all over them in the rain. Minkah Fitzpatrick blew a hamstring. Kenny Pickett bruised some ribs after getting assaulted on some late hits. The shortened week doesn’t help as a feisty Tennessee Titans team comes to town Thursday.

Houston Texans

They lost the battle of the rookie quarterbacks as the Carolina Panthers, led by Bryce Young, edged the win from CJ Stroud and company. Will Anderson only has 1 sack and less than 30 tackles. Stingley is on the IR. The defense is somewhat capable, so we will see if they can right the ship.
